Tennis player René Lacoste Posted a bet that if he won a particular match, he would get a crocodile skins bag. He won and was then called the "crocodile". He started making his own clothes and later created a company for this.

Lacoste is a French-owned clothing company founded in 1933 by René Lacoste. They are best known for their polo shirts, but also make shoes, perfumes, leather goods, wristwatches, sunglasses and more. Lacoste can always be recognized by their green crocodile logo.
